Annie’s Playground

We visited Annie’s Playground in Fallston Maryland earlier this fall. This is one of the coolest playgrounds I’ve ever visited. Probably geared toward a slightly older, elementary school audience (with a castle theme that makes it hard to keep an eye on a toddler), though there were a couple of smaller apparatuses and areas for kids Oliver’s age.

Here’s the story of the playground, which was built by volunteers to honor the memory of a young girl who died in a hit-and-run accident: History of Annie's Playground

We live in southwest Baltimore County, so I don’t get up to the Perry Hall / Bel Air area very often. But what a beautiful part of the Baltimore metro area, very close to Gunpowder Falls State Park (which I have yet to visit). There are soccer fields right behind Annie’s playground, and behind those, a tree-lined horizon with lots of open sky.

I, unfortunately, did not take many photos on this particular excursion (though the nice black-and-white photo of Oliver in the email subscription section is from Annie’s Playground). But the Baltimore Sun has a nice archive of photos from a few years ago: Photo Gallery

Admission to Annie’s Playground is free. Parking is plentiful, the restrooms are modern, and you’re just a few miles away from Angel Park—another playground we recently visited that I will profile soon (and for which I have several nice photos).
